💳 What you can do for free

One of the most important things to understand about GameMasterBuddy is that most of the product is free. The tabletop tools, the Bench, the map editor and the online Table all run inside your browser: they don't use the server's artificial intelligence, so they don't consume credits. This page gathers everything you can do at zero cost, so you know to spend AI only when it's truly needed.

All the tabletop tools

The tool suite in the dedicated section is entirely free. There's no credit limit because the calculation happens on your computer, not the server. Among others you'll find:

• Dice: rows per die type (n x dY +/- mod) and a roll console.
• Player tracker: initiative order and per-setting stats.
• Generators: NPCs, cities, encounters, loot, taverns, weather, plot hooks, names and custom tables.
• Enemy generator and NPC sheets.
• Session timer and notes.

Each has its own sub-page, and your work saves automatically in the browser (survives a refresh).

The Bench

The Bench is the ComfyUI-style composable canvas where you drag tool blocks and let them talk to each other (for example passing an enemy from the Generator to the NPC Sheet to the Tracker). Using it is free. Bench presets save to your account, so you get back the layout you need.

The only exception inside the Bench is the DM helper, an AI mini-chat: that one, being AI, uses credits. Everything else in the Bench does not.

The Cartographer (map editor)

The top-down map editor is free. You can draw battlemaps, use stamps, texture brushes, shapes and lines, manage layers like in a graphics program, save maps to your account and export them as PNG. None of these operations use credits, because the drawing happens in the browser.

The online Table

The online Table (the VTT) is free: you load a map, place draggable tokens on it, manage the fog of war and project to your players. This too runs browser-side and never touches your balance.

Recap: where credits are needed

For clarity, the only features that spend credits are the ones based on artificial intelligence:

• Master AI chat;
• DM helper in the Bench;
• generated Portraits;
• One-shot Studio.

Everything else listed above is free with no credit limit. You can prepare a whole session, draw maps and run the table without spending anything.
