Assigning sheets to players

Assigning a sheet to a player links a character to whoever plays it and makes its pawn appear in the Table's tray, ready to place. From that moment the pawn is owned by the player: you place it, but they move it. Assignment is done from the Table chat, the session's communication block.

Where assignment starts

The sheets to assign come from the Campaign block: on the rows of characters (PCs) and NPCs there's a 📜 button that makes the sheet "assignable". The sheet carries the useful data with it — hit points, key stats and the portrait (converted into a self-contained image, so players see it even without your permissions).

Assigning step by step

  1. In the Campaign block, press 📜 on the row of the character or NPC you want to assign.
  2. In the Table chat open the Assign sheet dropdown and pick the sheet you made assignable.
  3. Choose the player to give it to.
  4. Their pawn appears in the Table's tray, Players group: it shows the portrait, the player's name and the hit points.
  5. You drag the pawn onto the map. It is created owned by the player, who will be able to move it.

One chip per player

Each player has one assigned pawn: if you assign a new sheet to the same player, the previous chip is replaced (face, name and data are updated). This avoids duplicate pawns of the same character.

Things to know

  • The player-pawn's label shows the player's name, not the character's: so at a glance you know who is moving what.
  • The pawn's hit points come from the assigned sheet and update in real time on the map.
  • This flow works on the Bench staging desk, where the Table's tray lives. If you're running as GM from the /gioca page, assignment doesn't generate pawns: use the Bench to assign.
