Document reader
The Document reader is the read-only window onto your reference texts: your personal archive, the journals and your campaigns' context files, all within reach while you play. It's for consulting without opening other apps: quickly pull up a place's description, a campaign's notes, a document you uploaded. It's free and runs in the browser. One important detail: it exists only in the Board, with no page or card of its own in the tools hub.
What you can read
The reader groups documents into three sources:
- Personal archive: the files you imported yourself.
- Journals: your campaigns' journals.
- Campaigns' context files: the documents attached to your adventures.
It's all tied to your account: you see only your own documents, not anyone else's.
What it does NOT read
The Document reader does not read the game manuals. The manuals are the territory of the Master AI chat, which searches them and cites them in its answers. Here instead you find your texts — archive, journals, campaign context — to keep them in view at the table.
Read-only and import
The tool is read-only: you open documents and read them, you don't edit them here (for writing there's Notes). You can, however, import your .md and .txt files into the personal archive, making them available in the reader during the session.
How to use it
- In the Board, add the Document reader block from the palette.
- Choose the source (personal archive, journals, context files) and open the document you need.
- To add your own material, import an
.mdor.txtfile into the personal archive.
